#NextGenNatSec

The Diversity in National Security Network and New America are pleased to honor the contributions of diverse experts in U.S. national security and foreign policy. These lists feature experts currently serving in government, think tanks, academia, non-governmental organizations, and the media. Selection is based on excellence and leadership; their current work in national security or foreign policy; and their contributions to their issues of expertise through thought leadership.

DINSN convenes a committee of experts from the affinity/ethnic group represented by each list to collaborate with us. This committee of experts works with DINSN leadership to steer and support the outreach, review, and amplification of the experts included in the list. DINSN recognizes the importance of letting the community being represented lead the effort, control the narrative, and spearhead the outreach to ensure cultural alignment and sensitivity. A big thank you to the experts that volunteer their time and talent to bring these list to life!!

OPEN LETTER ON DIVERSITY IN FOREIGN POLICY & NATIONAL SECURITY

April 10, 2018

Dozens of experienced diplomats and former military officers and intelligence officials issued a statement outlining steps to diversify the ranks of foreign policy and national security practitioners—in and out of government—to reinforce the ability of the United States to constructively engage with the world. Now, more than ever, U.S. institutions must be reinforced with service-minded individuals with diverse cultural, linguist, and religious backgrounds.
